Politics aside, President Obama’s two summer Spotify’s playlists were something to be admired. They were a mix of new rap, old rap, Motown, Stones, The Beach Boys…they had it all. It’s even more astonishing to think that almost all of these incredible musicians came to his house to play intimate shows. So, will Donald Trump step up to the plate and keep the national playlist going? Surely he’s not in tune with today’s music, but there are so many great songs and eras he could pull from.
With the pressure of having to top #44, I wanted to take a stab at some of Trump’s likely song choices.
Genesis – Illegal Alien
Although the song is sympathetic to border crossers, I think Trump will hit the [+Add to Playlist] button immediately after hearing the chorus: “It’s no fun being an illegal alien, I mean it when I tell ya that!”
Lil Wayne – Rich as Fuck
Lil Wayne’s lyric writing on this track really is impressive, but the Donald’s patience is too short for that. It’s all about the chorus!
Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall
If Trump is in a really witty mood, he’d add a Spanish version of this track.
Kenny Rogers & Mac Davis – Oh Lord, It’s Hard to be Humble
This song is so fantastic. Opening lyrics:
“Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble, When you’re perfect in every way.
I can’t wait to look in the mirror, cause I get better looking each day.”
I’m Too Sexy – Right Said Fred
Back in the U.S.S.R – The Beatles
The playlist is not complete without a shout out to his Ruskie bro. Donald’s favorite part: “Well the Ukraine girls really knock me out. They leave the west behind, And Moscow girls make me sing and shout.”
Kanye West – I Am a God
Trump Staff: “Sir, we can’t put this on the playlist.”
Donald: “No, it’s on. Everyone knows these lyrics are true about me. “Hurry up with my damn massage, Hurry up with my damn ménage, Get the Porsche out the damn garage, I am a god”
Oh, are there no female artists? I didn’t notice. :-/
